Weekend Round Up

It was the weekend of the National Day of Protest Against Prop 8. Appropriately, I spent Friday night watching Season 5 of Ellen (the sitcom, not the talk show) with Bryce, which, for us cinema studies students, actually counted as doing homework. While we watched, we brainstormed some ideas of clever sign slogans for the protest, but, as you can see, tired out quickly when we couldn't figure out the best way to spell "hater" using the ubiquitous "H8" abbreviation...

Saturday I met up with Smith friends and friends of Smith friends to head downtown to City Hall. Here's some photographic evidence:

It was both heartening to experience the positive attitude of all in attendence (further supported by the many honks and thumbs-ups from the numerous double-decker tour buses that passed) and disheartening to remember why we were there in the first place.

Seriously, it's 2008. WTF America?
